The Turkish bath — hamam — is a 600-year-old ritual of steam, scrub and foam massage. Almost every Antalya hotel has one, but our recommended trip is a 2-hour authentic hamam with transfer from your hotel.
How a hamam works
You lie on a heated marble slab (göbek taşı) to open your pores, then a keseci scrubs off dead skin, followed by a cloud-like foam massage. Finish with tea in the cool room.
What to wear
Swimwear is fine. The hamam provides a peştemal (thin cotton wrap), slippers and towels. Men and women are usually in separate sections or served by same-gender staff.
